About Me

My photo
Well, where do I start? I could start at many stages in my life; all very exciting and adventurous in some sort of way. Probably best to start when I met my husband 10 years ago, as this was the turning point in my very emotional and dramatic life. Met Ben through work, we had a wonderful life together, very ambitious, career driven until we decided to started a family 4 years later. The fertility Journey did take 2 years to conceive but we got there eventually and conceived little Thomas, now for someone like me who has no patience what so ever this was a agonizing and stressful wait but well worth it. We moved from our home town Bournemouth to Ipswich with Ben's work, I gave up my careern and then married in Cumbria in 2009. We continued to have 2 more children very easily compared to Thomas, Jesiica and Baby Wilson.

According to the National Institutes of Health, saw palmetto is best known for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia, but it is also used for treating prostatitis, which is an inflammation of the prostate sometimes caused by bacterial infection. Treating bacterial prostatisis with a combination of saw palmetto and antibiotics may be a useful treatment approach. However, as with any supplement, consult with your doctor before using saw palmetto medicinally.
TREATMENT

Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic that is in a class of medicines called fluoroquinolones. These medicines work by killing bacteria that cause infections. Ciprofloxacin is used to treat a variety of infections, including certain types of urinary tract infections and infections of the prostate gland, or bacterial prostatitis. Bacterial prostatitis occurs when urinary tract infections, typically caused by a partial blockage of the urinary tract from benign prostatic hyperplasia, spread to the prostate and cause an infection.

HOW IT WORKS

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, the active substances in saw palmetto are fatty acids, plant sterols and flavonoids. Saw palmetto possibly inhibits the actions of growth factors and inflammatory substances, UMMC continues, along with Blue Shield Complementary and Alternative Health. This herb may also strengthen the immune system. Saw palmetto works by shrinking the inside lining of the prostate, putting pressure on the tubes carrying urine, but it does not reduce the total size of the prostate.
PREPARATIONS AND DOSAGE

You can buy saw palmetto supplements in dried berry, powdered capsule, tablet, liquid tincture and extract forms. The saw palmetto supplement should be standardized to contain between 85 to 95 percent fatty acids and sterols, the active constituents in saw palmetto. Standardized saw palmetto pills can be taken in daily doses of 320 milligrams or you may take 5 to 6 milliliters of the liquid extract daily, says UMMC.
USE WITH CIPROFLOXACIN

Saw palmetto has been effectively used in research studies in combination with ciprofloxacin. In a study published in the "International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents" in 2007, researchers combined saw palmetto with ciprofloxacin to treat people with chronic bacterial prostatitis. These medications were taken together for either one or two six-week cycles of treatment. The authors concluded that combined treatment with these two medicines safely provided extended symptom relief and improvement in general well-being. However, this study was not well designed as it did not include comparisons with other treatments and placebo, or sugar pills. Further research is needed to confirm these results.

chronic epididymitis

http://www.newrootsherbal.com/product/view/id/1096

I had chronic epididymitis for over a year, and have finally almost cured it by water fasting, and taking Dr. Mercola saw palmetto. Its not 100% but most of the pain is gone and it doesnt bother me anymore. Im going to do another water fasting but longer this time, and hopefully that will make it even better.

What to do if you have chronic epididymitis:

1. You need to change your diet to alkaline foods like barely, wheat; cottage cheese, fruits and veggies are good (Preferably Organic). Slow down on acidic fruits, but remember there is no need to eliminate them from the diet.

2. Then you need to lower your meat and sweets consumption they make issues for malnourishment in the body. Meat requires a lot of acid to break it down, which will aggravate the sensitive nerve. Sugar will distract cells and they will not take in the nutrition to heal your nerves and organs right.

3. You may not be sure but you are most likely deficient in natural vitamin E complex (all 8 forms) like I was. Buy a supplement that contains all eight forms naturally (Preferably non GMO and pesticide free). 400IU or less per day but around this amount should work. No need to get any higher dosage. Stay away from synthetic vitamin E; it blocks a cells use of natural vitamin E. Natural vitamin E is stronger and is labeled with d-“”, whereas synthetic is labeled with dl-“”. The quotation marks are where the type of vitamin E goes.

I have had chronic epididymitis for 3 years now, since my freshmen year in college. And it has been a pain walking to classes and even sitting down in a chair. I even wore constrictive underwear, which helps but is not enough. I read somewhere that if you have not had an STD epididymitis can occur from having a surgery or operation through the groin or having a bacterial infection. For me I knew I had an operation through the groin in the past for Super Tachycardia, which is an abnormal heartbeat. So that was probably the case for me. In helping me with my epididymitis the doctors were like cavemen. No pain medication or antibodies got rid of the situation! The only advice that was helpful from the doctor was wearing constrictive underwear. And the idea of becoming sterile on that testicle was beginning to rear its ugly head.

After realizing that my doctor couldn’t help me, I decided to turn to my diet. I tried different foods to see what would help. Junk food made the matter worse and so did too much meat so I slowed down on those. Finally I tried a grain that I have never eaten before, weird enough because for some reason it has been eliminated from the average American diet. That grain was barely. I noticed that barely had the greatest affect on my epididymitis but after about 5-6 hours the situation would reoccur in weaker forms. I looked into it and found that barely is a grain that contains about all 8 forms of vitamin E. After noticing this info on barely, I began to look into the health benefits of using the complex forms of vitamin E. The benefits can be looked into on your free time but be careful some are trying to down vitamin E.

After doing the above 3 steps, my symptoms cleared up and I was better in 2 days, which is crazy compared to 3 years. Get a supplement that is about 400IU with all 8 forms non-GMO and no pesticides if possible, it is worth it. Keep in mind I let a professional diagnose me with the situation first and looked into it. I can now wear regular underwear like boxer briefs, which are still a bit constrictive. Pain on scale from 1-10, which was 10, is now 0 almost all the time. And there is decreased inflammation. Also showers maybe took my pain to a 7 or 8 and there was still inflammation. Good luck guys.

Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma and Infertility

Mycoplasmas are the smallest known free living organisms. Of over 100 species identified, 3 colonise the genitourinary tract of humans. Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum may be found in the cervix of 40% - 80% or vagina, 21% - 53% of women. Mycoplasma genitalium may cause urethritis in males.

Bacterial and fungal cultures are often conducted on the female's cervical mucus. Infection with certain microorganisms, including mycoplasma, can lead to infertility. Mycoplasma are small bacteria like organisms that are suspected to cause several urologic, obstetric and gynecologic disorders, such as pelvic inflammatory disease, urethritis and pregnancy loss. Women whose reproductive tracts are colonized with Mycoplasma have higher rates of miscarriage. The organism lives in the male prostate gland and is transmitted during intercourse.

Mycoplasma Hominis (M. Hominis) can cause infertility by causing PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease), urogenital infections and Septicemia.

In women colonization is linked with younger age, lower socio economic status, sexual activity with multiple partners, black race and oral contraceptive use. They may be transmitted to about 40% of infants born to infected mothers.

Mycoplasmas tend to produce slowly progressive chronic disease. They are extra cellular organisms which do not penetrate past mucosal surfaces. When normal host defenses are impaired, dissemination of disease may occur.

Infection and fertility
Genitourinary infections associated with Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum include: nongonococcal urethritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, pyelonephritisand urinary calculi.

A study reported (March 3, 1983) in the New England Journal of Medicine noted success in achieving pregnancies for previously infertile couples by treating the husbands for a relatively minor but prevalent social disease caused by the microorganism T mycoplasma or Ureaplasma urealyticum. This infection of the genital tract was treated with a tetracycline type antibiotic. Researchers believe that the mycoplasma infection may be a major cause of infertility.

A recent study found a significantly higher frequency of U. urealyticum infection was found among infertile males (39%) compared to controls (9%). It is shown to adhere to the membranes of the sperm and germ cells with subsequent immune antibody reaction. It may also directly impair spermatogenesis, and children of men infected may be at risk of low birth weight.

Another study in1996 took cervical swabs from infertile couples and compared the results to fertile couples, U. urealyticum infections were detected in 35.9% of the infertile group and 15.6% of the fertile group. After treatment of positive patients the pregnancy rates were higher in those patients who cleared compared to those who remained positive for the infection.

Infection and pregnancy

Infection associated with pregnancy shows strong links to miscarriage if the organisms are found in the placenta or endometrium. This may occur if mycoplasma attach to sperm. Both organisms may invade the amniotic sac in the first 16 to 20 weeks of gestation. Isolation of ureaplasma from the placenta is associated with chorioamniontitis, funisitis, stillbirth, perinatal morbidity, premature labour and low birth weight. Investigations into recurrent pregnancy loss found Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum to be one of 3 major causes.

M. Hominis is a proven cause of post partum endometriosis.

Infection and the new born

Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum are causes of congenital pneumonia and other respiratory disease particularly in low birth weight infants.

Both Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum may cause meningitis in the new born.

Other manifestations include septic arthritis, subcutaneous abscesses, persistent urethritis, and chronic cystitis.

Treatment of 10-14 days is recommended. Sexual partners should be treated concurrently to prevent re-infection.
Natural treatment for genitourinary infections
If your seek a Naturopaths advise they will suggest a healthy diet along side of immune treatments. These may include:

Herbal douche midcycle when the cervix is open,
Internal herbal remedies of strong antimicrobial herbs and immune stimulants
Vitamin C, zinc, reishi, ****ake, antioxidants are also helpful to support the immune system
Following a Preconception Care program
Antibiotics may be necessary, retest to confirm absence of infection, must be accompanied by immuno-supportive herbs and probiotics.

Condoms can be used until treatment is effective and tests clear.
